ATERC VISION STATEMENT
"Our Association of Transpersonal and Emotional Release Counsellors
( ATERC) supports us, its members,
to participate in the transformation of our world through practices
that enhance consciousness and connectedness".
Current
categories of membership include:
1. Full Members – Practicing
These members have completed training and 200 hrs of client contact
with 50 hrs of related supervision, and are required to meet annual
renewal requirements of a minimum of 50 hrs of a combination of Personal
Development, Professional Development, Supervision, with a minimum
of 10 hrs from each category.
2. Full Members – Non-Practicing
These members have completed training and 200 hrs of client contact
with 50 hrs of related supervision, and are required to meet annual
renewal requirements of a minimum of 50 hrs of a combination of Personal
Development and Professional Development, with a minimum of 10 hrs
from each category. There are no Supervision requirements.
3. Associate Members
These are members that are in training or have completed some level
of training. These members do not have voting rights.
4. Friends
These are people that are interested in supporting the work of ATERC.
These people do not have voting rights.
Persons intending to enter or re enter ATERC as Full Members
– Practicing.
ATERC recommends that a graduated system be employed to guide and
support persons intending to enter or re enter ATERC as Full Members
– Practicing. We
see these people as mainly falling into two categories.
1. New applicants
2. Renewing Members: Lapsed Full Members –
Practicing and Full Members – Non-Practicing wishing to change
to Full Members – Practicing.
New
Applicants
1. New Applicants that have completed their formal training no more
than two (2) years ago and have completed the 200 hrs of client contact
and 50 hrs of related supervision be automatically accepted as Full
Members – Practicing.
2. New Applicants that have completed 200 hrs of client contact and
50 hrs of related supervision and completed formal training between
two (2) years and four (4) years ago will be required to meet a graduated
scale of extra supervision, personal development and professional
development requirements as outlined below.
3. New Applicants that have completed 200 hrs of client contact and
50 hrs of related supervision and completed formal training more than
four (4) years ago will be required to undertake an assessment process
with an ATERC trainer to determine areas for professional development
and to determine the appropriate amount and frequency of supervision
to support ‘best practice’ for both counsellor and client.
Renewing
Members
Moving from Non-Practicing to Practicing and lapsed Full Members applying
to re-enter ATERC as Full Members – Practicing
(Lapsed members reapplying to ATERC will be required to resubmit all
documentation relating to training and evidence of their 200 hrs of
client contact and 50 hrs of related supervision.)
1. If non-practicing
or lapsed for up to one (1) year – automatic re-instatement
as practicing.
2. If non-practicing for between one year and five years. During the
first year of renewal as practicing the counsellor will be required
to meet a graduated scale of extra supervision. If lapsed for between
one year and five years, during the first year of renewal the counsellor
will be required to meet a graduated scale of extra supervision, professional
development and personal development.
3. If non-practicing or lapsed for more than five years the applicant
will be required to undertake an assessment process with an ATERC
trainer to determine areas for professional development and to determine
the appropriate amount and frequency of supervision to support ‘best
practice’ for both counsellor and client.
Full
Members – Practicing Wishing To Apply For Leave-Of-Absence
On occasion, a full member-practicing,
may wish to apply for leave-of-absence. This can be for a variety
of reasons such as medical concerns, major life concerns, study leave,
overseas travel, etc. These members wish to retain full membership
status as non-practicing while being unable to meet any ongoing requirements
regarding supervision, personal development, or professional development.
Such members can apply to renew as full members – non-practicing
(on leave-of-absence). They are required to submit, in writing, their
request for leave-of-absence outlining the reasons for this request
and the length of time required as leave-of-absence. Such requests
will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the ATERC Management
Committee.

Scale of Supervision, Personal Development and Professional Development
required for New Applicants
Formal training completed
between 2 yrs and 3yrs ago – In the first 12 months of practice
to complete a minimum of 60hrs of personal development, professional
development, and supervision, with a minimum of 20 hrs in each category.
Between 3 yrs and 4yrs - In the first 12 months of practice to complete
a minimum of 70hrs of personal development, professional development,
and supervision, with a minimum of 20 hrs supervision and 20hrs professional
development.
Graduated
Scale of Supervision required for Members Moving From Non-Practicing
to Practicing
Non- Practicing between
2 yrs and 3yrs – In the first 12 months of practice to complete
a minimum of 50hrs of personal development, professional development,
and supervision, with a minimum of 20 hrs Supervision.
Between 3 yrs and 4yrs - In the first 12 months of practice to complete
a minimum of 55hrs of personal development, professional development,
and supervision, with a minimum of 25 hrs Supervision
Between 4 yrs and 5yrs - In the first 12 months of practice to complete
a minimum of 60hrs of personal development, professional development,
and supervision, with a minimum of 30 hrs supervision.
Graduated
Scale of Supervision, Personal Development and Professional Development
required for Lapsed Full Members
Lapsed between 2 yrs and
3yrs – In the first 12 months of practice to complete a minimum
of 60hrs of personal development, professional development, and supervision,
with a minimum of 20 hrs Supervision.
Between 3 yrs and 4yrs - In the first 12 months of practice to complete
a minimum of 70hrs of personal development, professional development,
and supervision, with a minimum of 25 hrs Supervision
Between 4 yrs and 5yrs - In the first 12 months of practice to complete
a minimum of 80hrs of personal development, professional development,
and supervision, with a minimum of 30 hrs supervision.
Application
for Recognition of Previous Supervision, Professional Development
and Personal Development
ATERC recognises
that some new applicants may have undertaken some professional development,
some supervision and some personal development since completion of
their training. This may also apply in part to lapsed members. Evidence
of any supervision, professional development and personal development
undertaken in the previous 12 months may be submitted for consideration.
The evidence may include hours of supervision signed off by your supervisor,
certificate of attendance to professional development, hours of personal
work with a signed statement from the provider. Successful application
may reduce the requirements during the first year of practice.
